Admission Requirements

Master of Science in Nursing
To be eligible for this program, students must meet the following qualifications:
• BSN degree from a regionally accredited institution and CNEA/ACEN/CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the United States
• Three letters of recommendation: Minimum of one academic and one clinical
• Copy of curriculum vitae or resume
• 500-word essay describing: Your interest in becoming a nurse practitioner and how you plan to use your education to affect patient outcomes
• Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience
• Prior to clinical practicum, a background check, fingerprint check, and proof of immunization are also required

Doctor of Nursing Practice
To be eligible for this program, students must meet the following qualifications:
• MS or MSN degree from a regionally accredited institution and ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Current board certification as an advanced practice nurse
• Minimum of a 3.25 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Three letters of recommendation: Minimum of one academic and one clinical
• Copy of curriculum vitae or resume
• Three-page essay, double spaced: Describe your interest in becoming a nurse practitioner as well as your philosophy of graduate nursing education. In addition, describe an area of interest you have that would lend itself to scholarly inquiry.
• Possible interview may be requested
• Prior to clinical practicum, a background check, fingerprint check, and proof of immunization are also required

BSN to DNP Program
To be eligible for this program, students must meet the following qualifications:

• BSN degree from a regionally accredited institution and CNEA/ACEN/CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Minimum of 3.25 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the U.S.
• Three letters of recommendation: Minimum of one academic, one clinical
• Copy of curriculum vitae or resume
• Three-page essay, double spaced: Describe your interest in becoming a nurse practitioner as well as your philosophy of graduate nursing education. In addition, describe an area of interest you have that would lend itself to scholarly inquiry.

Transfer Credits
Transfer credits can help students save time and money. Students with existing credit from an accredited university can request that their transcripts be reviewed and the credits be considered for transfer to Maryville University. Review is done and transfer credits are granted on a case-by-case basis.
